Alex asks....
I am a 16 year old boy with extremely wavy and thick hair. I regularly use a straightener but it requires great effort because of the thickness. If I don't wash my hair and just sleep on it while it is straight for a few days it can actually look good, but this option is kind of gross if I don’t wash it for weeks. I don't know what to do?

Answer by: Darren Messias
I know what its like to have thick wavy hair as mine is the same?

What I would suggest are two options. The first is to have your hair thinned out by having it cut with either a feather blade (razor) or a pair of thinning scissors. Obviously you need to go to a reputable professional salon for this service and have a consultation first.

The other is to look at the option of having your hair chemically straightened. This will help keep your hair straighter and hopefully let you get the look you are after. As before make sure you go to a salon that specialises in this.
Claire asks....
I am 18 years old and I have just recently had my 18 inch hair extensions took out because my hair on the side wasn’t strong enough to hold the extensions and pulled my hair out which was devastating. I am now left with some bald patches. My hair is quite slow at growing is there anyway/style I could help my hair grow faster or make it look longer?

Answer by: Darren Messias
Unfortunately there is nothing you can do to make your hair grow quicker. Just make sure your hair is in the best possible condition it can be and try not to apply too much heat to your hair.
Cristina asks....
I have very straight hair and I like to use the curling iron here and there so my hair won't look so dead and with some style. Will my hair get damaged if I use mousse on wet hair, blow dry and than use the curling iron?

Answer by: Darren Messias
All heat can dry the hair out slightly, but as long as you condition regularly with a good product, this should not be problem.
Monica asks....
I am getting married in a few months, and my dress style is A-line with a wedding band collar. Would you please suggest a hair style to match the dress?

Answer by: Charlotte Murray
Sounds very Audrey Hepburn. A classic chignon expertly produced would be a treat. Find a great hairdresser to perform this fabulous hairdo and make sure you have a trial. A beautiful tiara would top off your Hollywood glamour look. Make sure your spouse to be looks as fab as you will. His grooming is as important as yours. Be the A-list couple of the day!
Sarah asks....
I have had my hair permed straight as was fed up with naturally curly hair. Now I want to go back to being curly as straightening is breaking my hair. Is it a good idea to have it permed curly again as my hair isn’t getting any longer as I keeps breaking. I have stopped using straighteners.

Answer by: Gary Sunderland
You should be able to have your permed (we prefer to say add movement)! Please visit your professional salon for advice.

It is important to ensure your hair is in good condition and it may require some treatment prior to you curl service.

Providing you follow the advice from your stylist with before and after care you should have no problem getting curl back into your hair.
Rahel asks....
I have very black hair. A few months ago I had my hair coloured in streaks to a very light colour. This colouring made my hair very dry. It used to be very shiny before, but now it is very dry. Please help me as I hate the look of my hair.

Answer by: Jason Kearns
I feel for you. It’s going to take time to get your hair back in shape, I would suggest taking your colour back to it's original and then lots of loving care by using treatments and conditioner you might want to look at the Joico Line for products.
Amy asks....
What is the best way to make sure your hair doesn't break during highlights? Should I do a deep protein mask before? I am so scared because it broke last year. Is there any way I can ask my stylist to use a gentler bleach/dye? Is double process so damaging and if not which way should they do it. Highlight before or after the colour...each salon has done it differently

Answer by: Jason Kearns
I think if your hair broke off when doing last year you might want to rethink who is going to do the colour this time. It should never have broken off the way you’re describing it, but they should be able to do the colour and highlights at the same time.
Tracy asks....
I am having a party for my 50th and wearing a ball gown, I have shoulder length hair with a fringe, but would like to wear it off my face for a change with a fancy headband with maybe diamantes etc. What do you suggest?

Answer by: Charlotte Murray
Congratulations! If you are going for a fifties inspired look a high ponytail might do the job. Make the "tail" really full by backcombing the underneath, then smoothing the hair over the top. It may really work with your fringe. If that isn't the look you could go for a really wavy half up half down look with a fab hair slide on the side. Have a ball!
Sam asks....
I naturally have ash blonde hair and for a couple of years I've dyed it black but I want to go back to blonde without waiting for the dye to grow out because the regrowth look’s really bad. Is there a way I could do it at home because I don't really want to spend heaps of money for a hairdresser to do it?

Answer by: Diane Shaw
I think you are being unrealistic if you believe that you could reverse your hair colour at home with a home kit from black to blonde.

If you want a truly professional look and your hair to remain healthy then I think you could explore any of the following options:

Make an appointment with a reputable colour technician to help you achieve this. You could wear a short hair style and all the new growth would be blonde and healthy. Try a nice wig. Try using hair extensions so as to give the appearance of highlights whilst your hair is growing

I don’t know how long your hair is at present, but if you try to avoid getting it corrected professionally, it could end up costing you a lot more money in the long run. Go see a colour technician for advice, it won’t cost you anything until you agree to have something done to it.

Hope it all works out
