Views & tips from your side of the counter........
With a big wedding to attend this week I've had the perfect excuse for some self-pampering. Each day I've made time to do a little improving - deep - conditioning, body buffing and cuticle removing to name just a few. I don't know that I look any better but I certainly feel it. In these days of hectic schedules and busy family lives it's often difficult to spend any time just chilling out doing 'girly' things and I can honestly say just enjoying setting aside one hour each day for a week has really helped me unwind.

For instance whilst I was waiting for a deep conditioner to do its stuff for 20 mins on my hair I dug out my old copy of 'Cider with Rosie' and became so entranced with it I've read every other night this week before going to bed - a pleasure I've been neglecting for ages.
And soaking my feet in the foot spa gave me ample time one afternoon to watch Alan Titchmarsh create a beautiful garden from a derelict plot! I found my dusty copy of Enya's Shepherd Moons and relaxed while my eye pads were in place and remembered how much pleasure it gave me when I first bought it.

If you're stuck with a busy life-style and barely have time to breathe just remember that we all need to re-charge our batteries now and again. Not everyone can take themselves off to expensive health spas and it can be extremely difficult to fit things in around your family's and works needs but do try. Even if you have to set the alarm for an early morning start to get the house to yourself its worth it, just set yourself a date, and keep to it for that week, you'll benefit spiritually ad mentally as well as the beauty benefits.

The food that we eat can really affect our face and figure but do you know which foods can improve the health and appearance of your hair? To keep hair in top condition zinc is essential so pulses, eggs and seafood should be on the menu. To prevent hair loss we need a good source of iron-rich foods - nuts, dark green veggies and red meat are a few. As far as vitamins are concerned opt for foods containing the B-group vitamins, essential to healthy hair.

Did you know ………? That going to bed with damp hair can cause you problems. Whilst it won't do the hair itself any harm, you could develop a fungal infection on your scalp, especially if your hair is quite thick, so always ensure hair is fully dry before bedtime. Also, lying on damp hair can cause it to 'crease' which will be very difficult to remove the next day except by wetting it again.
