Choosing colours that suit us isn't always the same as choosing colours we like. I really love lemon colours but I know they don't suit me as whenever I have worn them, at least one person has asked if I'm not feeling well! And although orange is not a colour I'm particularly fond of I'm always surprised at how healthy I look when I'm wearing it. Although green is my Mum's favourite colour it does absolutely nothing for her complexion but she but she can wear black like a Channel mode. I'm really envious of a friend who can wear bright red and look stunning - when I wear it I look like a letter box!

Try to experiment with colours that you wouldn't normally choose or be drawn to - the sludgey neutrals don't look much on the hanger but look fantastic on most skin types.
Pale skins look fantastic in candy pinks and strong lilacs whereas tanned skins look great in cerise and vibrant citrus colours. Black skins are luckily suited by most colours, although some of the purples and plums can dull the complexion.

Steer clear of repeating old mistakes - if you looked hideous in that rust coloured thing you bought last year, don't go and look for something different in the same colour, you'll probably hideous in it again! Ask an honest friend or your other half which colours they like you in and see if your ideas coincide.

The same rules apply to patterns. If you've never tried wearing florals give them a go - you may be surprised. On the other hand if you always choose 'busy' clothes see how fantastic you might look in a plain black dress with gold or diamante jewellery. It costs
nothing to try things on and you may find a whole new personality underneath those grey sweat pants!

After watching the Chelsea Flower Show recently I am absolutely determined to buy a rose - print dress as soon as possible! Roses are a big fashion statement this year and having been to a wedding this weekend where almost everyone was in florals (even some of the men!) I felt decidedly left out in my blue and white plain outfit. Even shoes have gone floral with roses and daises in abundance and I simply must get some. I'm not normally a slave to fashion but roses are my absolute favourite flower, my favourite scent and
favourite fabric for the home - I'd eat them if they were served up to me. So I'm definitely on the hunt this week for everything 'rosy' that I can lay my hands on!

Too Busy to Care? If you really can't spare the time to sit around with deep conditioning masks on your hair, why not try Garnier Fructis Repair & Shine. It takes just one minute to condition hair from root to tip and has a light, creamy formula yet doesn't weight the hair down. Around £3.99 for 300 ml.

Did you Know ….

A gentle massage of the face when applying moisturiser each day can be as good as a weekly facial. Spare just a minute or two more when moisturising, to gently massage under eye area to increase circulation and reduce puffiness caused by fluid retention.

Gently massaging of the cheeks will get more oxygen and nutrients to the skin's surface to boost the complexion. Headache and sinus sufferers can also benefit from very gentle massage in circulation motions when applying moisturizer to the forehead.
Remember - gently does it, use light circular motions and never rub or press.
