Views & tips from your side of the counter........
Although many of us work in the IT industry most of us still do a fair amount of handwriting for various different reasons – even if you only even write your shopping list how maddening is it to reach for a pen and its absolutely useless! Itchy, scratchy points or blobs of ink on the page are infuriating and how cool do you look at meetings when you pull out a really stylish pen. I mention it because as a Christmas gift many years ago I received an absolutely gorgeous pen that I wouldn’t be without.

I still write all work notes in free hand (yes, honestly!) and in fact, spend at least several hours a day with an A4 pad and pen. So how lovely to give the gift of a really nice pen this year and especially for anyone who is really difficult to buy for you can’t go wrong with a decent pen.
Here are a few suggestions for whets really good on the high street:

• Pineapple pen and pencil set (Debenhams, approx £12)
• Argos Extra, Parker vector fountain pen, ball pen and pencil set which is gift boxed (approx £12.99)
• JML Classic Pen Set (Available at Woolworths approx £9.99) ensures even supply of ink whilst writing and eliminates blotting.
• Parker insignia pen chrome (WHSmiths approx £16)
• Tesco ladies leather shopping list and pen makes a lovely gift (approx £12)

Want to give a bag for Christmas? Well you’ll be well thought of if you give the gift of a Kipling Bag. Kipling have a huge following and distinctive with their little bag charm signature of the Kipling monkey.

Looking through the range we choose our 5 favourites that we would love to receive –

• ‘Bigbeat’. A handbag with a removable shoulder strap- Red. (approx £46) from the Basic Range.
• ‘NewGuard’. A medium zipped shoulder bag – Grey. (approx £54) from the vintage range.
• ‘Charlize leather’. A small shoulder bag- Tan. (approx £83) from the Club Range.
• ‘Stay’. Travel Tote- Multicoloured. (approx £75) from the G*rilla Girlz range.
• ‘Dia’. A Small shoulder bag/across the body. (approx £33) from the Denim Range.

If like me, you are candle mad, why not share your passion with your friends and family this Christmas. I often give beautiful candles as gifts all through the year and they are always well received. I absolutely love fragranced candles and burn different fragrances every evening – everything from tiny tea lights to large pillar candles – I love them all.

These are some of my favourites which will do very nicely from stocking fillers to a lovely main present-

• The Pier have lovely Cinnamon Blends Pillar Candles (from £4.80) to create that lovely Christmas Atmosphere. They also have a beautiful carved elephant candle (approx £10) which would make a lovely gift.
• Debenhams have a lovely set of 12 rattan candles and 6 glass holders (approx £5) for your home as well as a beautiful shargreen oblong candle by J Home by Jasper Conran (approx £12) which would look lovely in any home.
• The Sanctuary Mancle Lular fragranced candle (boots approx £7.95) is a lovely stocking filler.
• Yankee candles have some beautiful gifts we love ‘Vanilla Sandalwood’ Pillar (approx £14.95)
• John Lewis have the perfect candle gifts from Lily frame candle in a tin (approx £7.95) to beautiful boxed Miller Harris candles (approx £28).
